VIZAG: Also known as Visakhapattanamu is a coastal port city in the Indian state of Andrha Praddesh with a population of over 3,000,000 people. Vizag is an area in India still mostly untouched by the gospel message, a community of people who need the hope that Christ brings! Hinduism is the primary religion of the people in the area, followed by Islam, and then also there is a strong growth recently in Atheism. The average income of an individual in India in 2008 is estimated at $20.00 per week (US dollars). The people are hurting, they need a different way of life, they need God. The religion they have held on to is failing them. Jesus said “I am the way the truth and the life, no many comes to the Father except through me.” We have planned to reach out to this community of people, to share with them the message of Christ! They are hungry for change, the fields in Vizag are truly ripe for the harvest. Remember there is a very real battle going on for the souls of the people in this world. The Israelites didn’t take the promised land all at once, but instead they took it one city at a time… remember Jericho?
THE PROJECT: On December 5, 2008 we will be sending the Christian American band “RE:ZOUND” on tour to rock the city of Vizag in concert and preach the gospel to the young people in three cities in India. The first city will be Vizag. At this crusade, we are estimating 50,000 young people in attendance each night for three nights, for a total of 150,000 attendees. The young people in this city will come out for an American rock band! The audio and lighting production must be enormous to accommodate such massive crowds. We have set our sights on 50,000 new salvations at this crusade, but we do not mean to limit God with that estimate, but to ask God to move on the hearts of the people in a miraculous way. From Vizag the band will travel to two more cities to put on similar crusades, Hyderabad and Nagpur. RE:ZOUND coined the phrase “Rock Crusade” in 2001 when they toured Chenaii, India, where 50,000 received the message of Christ in open air concerts on the beach. Since then they have been to many nations including most recently Cambodia, Thailand, and Vietnam. “The Lord has moved tremendously in the crusades we have put on over the years, we have grown greatly in wisdom and understanding through all of this,” says Jason Anderson, lead singer of RE:ZOUND. Pastor Anderson went on further and appealed, “The Lord has called us back to India to reach out to areas that are still somewhat untouched, please join with us in reaching the young people of these cities.” Can you help?
